Problem Addressing
The blocking windows always cover a certain amounts of area on the screen and affect users' work flow while working with multiple softwares opened.
What If...
"my laptop offered two accessible displays that I could utilize simultaneously, effectively maximizing my screen space through a deliberate distribution based on priority."
During this phase, I primarily focused on brainstorming ways to hide the secondary laptop screen when not in use, rather than refining the form designs.
Concept Solution
The final design attaches the secondary display to the back of the main screen, allowing it to slide in two directions for different modes.
Form Inspiration
The most used design element for Logitech would be its iconic pill shape. The round and soft form language is inviting and friendly for people to touch on and interact with.
Form Development
CMF Selection
1/4
When I was selecting colors for the product, I wanted them to appeal to different types of users while maintaining Logitech DNA. I managed to gather a CMF mood board to represent three different mood expressions with the product.
Spec & Feature
The "Nurturing" Typing Angle
The laptop is designed to have a 5-degree downward angle for users to have a more comfortable typing posture.
2.5''x 14.7" Zoom Mode Display
In the Zoom meeting mode, users can see all the participants on the second display screen without blocking the view on main screen.
Logitech HD 720p Webcam w/Long-range Mic
In Zoom Meeting mode, the indicator on the webcam will turn green as the webcam turns on during the meeting.
The 'Logi-Mode'
In this multi-task mode, the second screen slides to the right giving users
an extended space for storing tool boxes and more settings.
Full-size SD Card Reader
The full size SD card reader allows the content makers to get quick access of video output from their camera devices.
Project Summary
While working on this project during my 4th term in ArtCenter, I learned how to identify the most iconic elements of a brand's design DNA and integrate them into a new product that appeal to the target users.
